An Open Invitation: Human Rights Award Presentation 2009- This Thursday
The UCC LGBT Society would like to invite you to attend this year’s Human Rights Award which will take place this Thursday the 2nd of April at 7:00PM in the UCC Council Chambers (accessible from the Main Quadrangle)
This years’ recipient is Ms. Ailbhe Smyth. Ms Smyth is a feminist and lesbian activist who chairs both the Women’s’ Education, Research and Resource Center in UCD as well as the National Gay and Lesbian Federation. A long time activist Ms Smyth has campaigned for equality over a thirty year career in the field of Social Justice.
The Society is delighted to present Ms Smyth with our Human Rights Award. This award established only this year and to be convened annually will highlight the work of advocates who fight for equality in the LGBT community.
The Society invites you to attend this very first ceremony and by attending support this initiative which we hope will come to be a regular feature in the UCC academic calendar.
You are invited to attend the ceremony which will begin at 7pm and to attend a wine reception which will begin at 6:30pm in the council chambers.
