Dublin Pride Film Shorts and BoLT Magazine

Dublin Pride Film Shorts
Fancy yourself as the next Gus Van Sant, Pedro Almodóvar or John Waters? Is the next Brokeback Mountain buried inside you and ready to explode onto the big screen? Well now’s your chance to reveal your talent to all in the Dublin Pride Film Shorts Competition.

The competition, now in its second year, is back with a bang with the winners being announced at a glitzy awards ceremony held in Dublin City Centre. The winning short will also be screened at the Meeting House Square on Monday 21st June as a mini featurette before the premiere screening of the Alternative Miss Ireland contest 2010.

Your film will also be featured in this summer’s GAZE – Dublin’s 18th Annual International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. There will also be prizes from Movies.ie and films courses from Filmbase.

Your film should be original, should reflect the theme of this years pride “We are Family Too” and should be between 2 and 5 minutes in length.
So dust off that director’s chair and pull out your clapper. Closing date for entries is Tuesday 8th June at 5.00pm.

Full details and application form – www.dublinpride.ie/shorts

The Theme
This year’s theme “We Are Family Too” hopes to highlight the fact that LGBT families inhabit a legal limbo without recognition or protection from the State and with no legal rights or constitutional recognition. While we welcome the fact that the Government is recognizing the lack of protection for LGBTQ people in Ireland, there remain many important areas, particularly regarding LGBTQ families, where the legitimacy of our lives as LGBTQ people is not respected nor given equal status.

Amnesty International Flash Pride

Dear Members,

This is short notice but we just want to draw your attention to the fact
that as Baltic Pride appears to have been banned, Amnesty International are
organising a Flash Pride outside the Lithuanian Embassy (*47 Ailesbury Road,
Ballsbridge, Dublin 4*) this Saturday from 12:30-2pm to show solidarity for
members of the LGBT community in Lithuania.

If you happen to be in Dublin or can make it to the event, that would be
great! Otherwise, feel free to pass this on to anybody you think might be
interested.

Here’s a link to the Facebook group:

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=120882801264484

In the meantime, keep an eye on our new campaigns section of website – we
will be updating it shortly! I’ll be in touch soon regarding the campaigns
sub-committee and all our campaigning plans for next year.

Take care,
Laura (LGBT Campaigns and Human Rights Officer).
