Rainbow Week 2012
Rainbow Week 2012 is almost upon us! Our Rainbow Week Convenor, Aaron, has a jam packed week of awesomeness planned for all of us! Here’s what we have in store for you all:

Monday 16th January
Opening Ceremony
Common Room 12pm-1pm.
As a way to kick off Rainbow Week, We will be having refreshments and a social in the common room where you can come get a programme for the week and ask us any questions you have about the events! Nibbles and NOMS to be had!

Dance Club Performance
Amphitheatre 1pm-2pm
Dance Club will be giving a special performance of Lady Gaga’s ”Born This Way” in celebration of Rainbow Week, be amazed!
Gender Reassignment Surgery Discussion
Kane G19 7pm-9pm
In conjunction with the Philosophical and Surgical societies, a talk will be held to dicuss this very interesting topic, there will be guest speakers from TENI and more, aswell as a Q&A after each so come along and learn something new
Tuesday 17th
Sexual Empowerment workshop
WGB G05. 1PM
The FUNNEST, AWESOMEST and BEST workshop ever is how I have heard this described.
Those of you who were at Pink Training may have already experienced this very popular workshop! Guest speaker, Billie, from the RedRibbonProject certainly knows her stuff and knows how to have a laugh, and anything goes, so if you haven’t been to it before, then it’s not to be missed! And if you have been before, then come along again, lots of fun to be had!
LGBT Comedy Show
Old Bar 7pm.
How many lesbians can you fit in a phonebox? How many Bi-sexuals does it take to screw in a lightbulb? If you so much as giggled reading this you MUST COME! Collaboration with Comedy Soc, this event is bound to be a good laugh with many stand-up performances and FOOD.
Wednesday 18th
Marriage Equality Talk/Workshop
ORB_123 7PM.
‘Did you know that there is almost 170 differences between Civil Partnership and full equal marriage? Marriage Equality is still a big issue in LGBT rights - this workshop highlights some of these differences and learn what you can do to help lobby the government and become an activist in the area’
Freakscene 11pm
We’ll be meeting @ Suas at 10pm for those who don’t wanna go alone. There’ll be a professional face-painter on the night plus a dedicated photo booth with UV lights to capture the ultravioltastic mayhem!
So wear whites, fluorescents, UV contact lens, ultra-violet make-up, neon, UV wigs etc. Moonshine and Hallmark are offering a 10% discount on UV goods. Penneys sell UV nail-varnish. The Funky Skunk and Mad also sell make-up, UV lens etc…..
Thursday 19th
LGBT hate crime workshop

Karl Griffin, LGBT Garda Liaison Officer from Bridewell Garda Station will be talking about his experience dealing with victims of Hate Crime and highlighting his role as the Liaison Officer.
‘Hate Crime’ Movie Screening
Kane G2 7pm
Collaberation with with Film soc and CIT LGBT. The movie ”Hate Crime” is about two recently married men starting a new life together before one is killed in an unprovoked Hate Crime and his husband fights for justice.
Friday 20th January
Transphobia in the workplace

Louise Hannon a Trans* woman who was recently in the media after winning a court case having been constructively dismissed for not being allowed to work as a Trans* person will be down to talk about her experience of Transphobia in the workplace and her endless activism since.
Dramat Play
Boole 1 7pm
In collaboration with the Drama society(Dramat) an LGBT-related play will be performed and is the final big event of Rainbow Week and so shouldn’t be missed! Also a night out session afterwards in Chambers/Rubys or wherever the night takes us, to celebrate the end of the week!’
