Confirmed speakers: Hazel Cullen, LGBT Noise and Moninne Griffin, MarriagEquality

****************************************************************
Goddess Gathering, 18th & 19th February, Clonakilty
Goddess Gathering aims to hold spaces for women to gather, physically & virtually, in love, to gain inspiration & strength while connecting with, & embodying, the Divine Feminine within ourselves & creating new ways of being in the world.

One of the ways in which we do this is to hold physical gatherings that are either for women only or that are focused on feminine energy; the Spring Gathering in February 2011 is a physical gathering of remarkable women in the beautiful setting of West Cork on the south west coast of Ireland. For more info, check out out the Facebook page!

Anarcha feminist skillshare, Sat 19-Sun 20th Feb 2011, Rossport Solidarity House, Mayo
A weekend of sharing and learning skills, run by women for women. Accommodation provided, food will be cooked collectively, donations welcome.
Call out for workshops & ideas – get in touch if you would be up for sharing a skill or have an idea for something you’d like to see happen….you don’t have to be an expert to share your skills http://www.rossportsolidaritycamp.org

Feminism & Truth Recovery, 28th Feburary 2011, Crescent Arts Centre, Belfast
How have women’s roles shaped their experiences of conflict and how can this be recognised within truth recovery
To register email Shauna on info@wrda.net

Endangered Species Summit, London, 4th March, 2011
At the summit, body image activists from all over the world will be talking about the hot topics in their countries, the positive changes that are being made and the issues that still need to be addressed. I know that there is a lot of interest in the topic of body image and I wanted to invite members of the Cork Feminista to meet with me ahead of the summit to share their views and ideas so that their voices are heard at the international event in March. If anyone is interested, please get in touch: deirdre.cowman@any-body.org. For more info on the summit check out the website http://www.endangeredspecieswomen.org.uk.

A Carnival of Feminist Cultural Activism, University of York, UK, 3-5 March 2011
This carnival is part-festival, part-conference. We seek to bring together artists, activists and academics from many nations to learn from each other, celebrate our creativity, and advance feminist work. We ask, can feminist art save the world, and if so, how?

Turn the Light On: An arts day for women filmmakers, artists, photographers, March 2011
We are hoping to exhibit artwork and screen films by women artists to coincide with International Women’s Day in March. Please have a look at our website: https://sites.google.com/site/turnthelighton2011/home . And send us in examples/photos or descriptions of your work to turnthelighton2011@gmail.com. You don’t have to be a professional to submit works! For those interested, before the opening of the exhibition, we are organising an informal roundtable discussion for women to talk about why and how they got involved in their particular area of the arts. It’s hoped that this discussion will be useful for anyone looking for advice or inspiration on how to get involved in the Arts scene in Ireland.

CALL FOR PAPERS: Feminism, women’s movements and women in movement
Interface: a journal for and about social movements, issue 3/2, November 2011, (deadline for submissions May 2011). Click here for more info.

Happy 2011!
This week we are having a Coffee Posse on Thursday at 7pm in The Other
Place. Everyone is welcome so come along!

We are having an EGM on the 17th of January for the positions of Auditor and
Events Officer.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank Louise, our Events Officer
and Tiarnan, our Auditor for all their hard work and time. They did an
amazing job and will be missed. They sadly had to resign due to their
college workload.

If you would like to run, you should have a speech prepared, up to 5 minutes
for auditor and up to 3 minutes for Events Officer. If you would like to run
for one of the positions you must be a member, i.e. to have attended at
least two events in one term. If you would like to run for Auditor you must
have two people to nominate you. Please just include their names in your
email.

If you are interested you must email us by Thursday 13th January.
Laura, our vice-auditor, Campaigns and Human Rights Officer will be acting auditor until the EGM.
